Community Empowerment

At Umuri Foundation, we are committed to empowering communities through various initiatives and projects. Our goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families, creating a ripple effect of positive change throughout the community.

Our empowerment projects focus on areas such as education, healthcare, skill development, and sustainable livelihoods. By providing resources, education, and support, we aim to uplift the community and create a brighter future for everyone.

Harnessing the transformative power of sports, our Community Empowerment Program centers around football to drive positive social change among young people. Prioritizing Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10, we aim to break the cycle of poverty, address hunger, improve health and well-being, promote gender equality, and reduce inequality. Through sports, we instill crucial life skills, emphasizing nutrition, mental health, and employability.

This holistic approach not only fosters athletic prowess but empowers youth to shape healthier, more equitable communities. Together, we kick off a journey towards creating better persons and better players for our generation to come.

Kina Unirinde Program

Kina Unirinde is a Kinyarwanda word that means “Play and Protect yourself”, is a dynamic program that focuses on promoting health and wellbeing by promoting a healthy generation free of sexually transmissible diseases, non-communicable diseases, teen pregnancies, drug abuse, and family violence.

Through the universal language of sports, we amplify crucial health messages, promoting awareness, prevention, protection, and treatment, as well as fostering healthy lifestyles. We create awareness on Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) which helps us achieve health goals in communities.

Girls’ Champion

This is a program that seeks to make an impact on national women’s sports/football as one of the male-dominated fields in Rwanda. We create and expand opportunities for girls to have access to sports facilities, have careers, and earn a living in professional sports.

Our program also leverages the power of sport in improving self-confidence among young girls as well as benefiting football values including teamwork, goal orientation, and persistence which aim to help them even in their other endeavors.

Sports for Nutrition Program

Good nutrition is the base for Child health and development. At Umuri Foundation, we believe that we should not leave behind Children and Youth nutrition as it affects their overall development and performances in sports and education.

Using sports, especially our football interventions, we focus on creating awareness for our beneficiaries and their families on Child feeding practices, Adolescents nutrition as the best way to raise potential players with required mental and physical fitness.

We seek to equip young people with the knowledge of preparing adequate nutrition for all categories of human development. We use sports to mobilize young people’s interests in joining us in practicing Nutrition-sensitive agriculture of kitchen gardening and fruit trees planting.
